South America has a wide variety of surf spots which include big waves spots such as Punta de Lobos Chile, Pico Alto Peru, Punta Carola, and the Galapagos Islands. These surf spots rival even the biggest waves of Hawaii and California. South America also has many surf spots suitable for beginning and intermediate surfers. Some of which include: Chicama Peru, Playas Ecuador, and la Puntilla in Chile. There are many surf spots that are long left points that good for both beginners and advanced surfers. South America is truly a continent filled with good surfing: everything from the shallow reefs of Northern Chile to the long rapping points of Northern Ecuador. South America has Surf for everyone. However, you should go with someone experienced in the area. The surfing conditions change quickly and it is sometimes very difficult to find the surf spots. South America gets both swells out of the Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere and both the wind and tide change quickly.
